According to very trusted always on point sources, Latinoreview has exclusively learned that the other villain in THE AVENGERS is…As much as I hate to admit it,it was pretty obvious and does make sense, especially since the Infinity Gauntlet does appear in Thor and was revealed at Comic-Con
…THANOS!Now I’m not going to spoil how he is in the movie, but trust me when we tell you that he is in there.
If you think about it, it is also kind of obvious.
The Infinity Gauntlet was on display at last year’s San Diego Comic Con and just made an appearance in Odin’s Vault in THOR.
According to Wikipedia, Thanos first appeared in Iron Man #55 (Feb. 1973) and was created by writer-artist Jim Starlin.
Debuting in the Bronze Age of comic books, the character has featured in over three decades of Marvel continuity and a self-titled series. The character's name is a derivation of Thanatos, the personification of death and mortality in Greek mythology. One of his more prominent storylines to date—the Infinity Gauntlet series—portrayed him as a mad cosmic tyrant bent on slaying half of all sentiences existing then in Marvel's multiverse in order to appease the Marvel Universe’s actual (and more powerful) embodied personification of Death in an attempt to win its love.
So there ya have it!
Thanos the Mad Titan will next be seen in The Avengers on May 4, 2012!

Kevin Feige talks to Empire Magazine about The Avengers and the first set pic.
"We wanted to do a teaser of an image-Let people know that the movie has started filming, and it's real. We thought it would be fun to have the cast chairs--that's the big selling point of the movie, that these people are together on the set" (apparently chairs for Hawkeye, Fury + Widow are there, but just out of frame")
"I did get to New Mexico on the 1st day of shooting. Right off the bat, it involved a couple of characters who'd been in other movies meeting for the first time" he recalls. "It was a little surreal, realising it was actually happening"
"Iron Man and Thor have defeated threats, and in a couple of months Captain America will hold his own - So what in the world could they go up against that requires all of them to get together for a challenge that they may or may not suceed against?" Feige wont't confirm or deny what that threat is...
"Everyone has more than their own fair share of screen time, interaction and arcs in this film - we didn't want anyone to get a short shrift - it's a big story and big movie. Everyone has room to have their own stories, but the primary one is their interaction together. That's where the fun really is!"
There is a big battle going on with Spider-Man and the Lizard in a library. I am the librarian. And I am stamping books. I am just stamping books. I have earphones on, and I'm listening to music. While I'm stamping the books, I am (dancing). And this life and death battle is going on behind me. But I don't know this! It looks so funny. And I look so dumb. It always matters to me if I look dumb. That's it!"
